New guide provides professional development resources for those considering a career in early education
Led by Kansas City Careers in Early Education, a Metropolitan Council on Child Care initiative, the creation of the guide resulted from the work of a dedicated group of early education professionals and community partners. It provides both a comprehensive approach to career development and the tools to make informed choices about careers in early education. This makes it an excellent resource for students, advisors, job seekers and early education professionals.
Written by Kate Duffy and edited by Alexis Petri, the 126-page book contains valuable information about the field of early education, the variety of roles within the field, and the kinds of education needed to enter the field. Colorfully illustrated, it profiles more than a dozen individuals who have established satisfying careers in this field. It also supplies, in one place, a comprehensive listing of professional and community resources ranging from accreditation requirements to web sites.
The Family ConservancySM and Mid-America Regional Council worked with
many partners to complete this book, including a stakeholders council which served
in an advisory role on the project. A significant grant from the Ewing Marion
Kauffman Foundation underwrote the publication.
Guiding Career Choices in Early Education is available free of charge; donations are accepted for shipping and handling. To obtain a copy of the book, contact Stacy Hamilton at 913-342-1110 ext. 112 or email at shamilton@thefamilyconservancy.org.
